Police in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, have arrested four suspected drug peddlers following an intelligence-led operation in the Makutano area.
According to a statement from the National Police Service (NPS), officers from Kikuyu Police Station carried out the early morning operation, which resulted in the seizure of 1,107 rolls and six kilograms of bhang.
The narcotics have an estimated street value of Sh210,000.
Police said the suspects are in custody and will be processed and formally charged in court.
The NPS commended members of the public for providing information that contributed to the successful raid, noting that community cooperation remains vital in combating the trade of illegal substances.
“The National Police Service commends the public for providing crucial information and the officers for their vigilance and commitment to the fight against narcotic drugs and illicit brews within their jurisdictions,” the statement read.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to sustained operations targeting drug networks across the county, emphasizing that the safety and well-being of residents remain a top priority.
“The NPS remains steadfast in its commitment to serving and protecting the public,” the statement added.
The arrest came hours after Police in Kuresoi North arrested three suspects and confiscated multiple rolls of cannabis sativa in a renewed crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.
According to authorities, the trio was intercepted in the Kwa Manga area of Nyota Sub-Location during an operation targeting the distribution of narcotics. Officers moved in after receiving intelligence reports pointing to increased drug activity in the area.
The suspects were found in possession of several rolls of cannabis and were immediately taken into custody.
Police said they are undergoing processing and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) reaffirmed its commitment to curbing the circulation of illegal substances and protecting public welfare. The service noted that similar operations will continue across the region as part of an ongoing effort to enhance safety and disrupt criminal networks involved in drug trafficking.
Authorities further urged the public to support the campaign by reporting suspicious activities. Citizens can reach law enforcement through toll-free hotlines 999, 911, and 112, or anonymously via the #FichuaKwaDCI line on 0800 722 203 or WhatsApp at 0709 570 000.
